Samir Melki is an attending physician on the Cornea and Refractive Surgery Service at the Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary. He is the founder and medical director of Boston Laser. He is an assistant clinical professor at Harvard Medical School. Dr Melki obtained an MD, PhD degree from Vanderbilt University. He completed his residency at Georgetown University and additional fellowship training at the Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary. Dr Melki’s special interest lies in Laser Eye Surgery and Corneal surgery. His daily practice encompasses clinical duties, teaching and research. Dr Melki is also the Ophthalmology Medical Director for the UK specialist Hospitals where he acts as an advisor in providing high volume cataract surgery for National Health Service (NHS) patients in the United Kingdom.

Dr Melki has performed refractive surgery since 1996. He is experienced in many modalities of vision correction and leads a very busy laser eye surgery practice in Boston, MA. He has an active research program. Dr Melki was the first surgeon to implant an electronic device to measure the eye pressure on a continuous basis in a person with glaucoma, a milestone in ophthalmology. He has published 4 books related to eye surgery in the last few years.
